Profile

Charlie Kedmenec

Charlie developed a love of dance at age 12 when he was cast in the lead role his yr 7 dance performance of "the purple people eater". Thats right, He was a one eyed, one horned, flying purple people eater, resplendent in purple body suit with satin cape. Unfortunately his dancing talents lay largely dormant over the next 12 years as he concentrated on singing and acting.

It wasn't until Charlie saw a swing demo performed by the fabulous Scott and Fi that his passion for dance (in particular Swing) was re-ignited. He started lessons with Brad, Fi, and Noni at Golden Gate in South Melbourne in 2004 and has never looked back.

Charlie is a huge fan of Jazz music, in particular big band swing, and loves nothing more than dancing the day or night away to the sweet sounds of a live band. "I love the way that when I'm in front of a live Big Band I can't stop my foot from tapping or my face from smiling, its such an awsome feeling"

Charlie is also an opera singer (really!!!) and has performed a bunch of roles with companies in Melbourne and Sydney. He is currently a full time member of the Opera Australia Chorus and can be seen on stage most nights at the Sydney Opera House.

Charlie loves many things about swing; the music, the dance, the balls, the clothes, but most of all the people. Never before has he met a group of people so warm, welcoming and friendly – Not to mention such great fun to dance with.
