Graham Wood

Having drifted around the world for a number of years, I thought that it was time to get a real job, and what better way to do that than do a PhD in philosophy. I had thought of becoming a world famous wilderness photographer, but then decided on the easier option. …“Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveller…” and all that!

So, I started my PhD, and what better place to do it than Tasmania. But it was not long before I was looking for some distraction from my PhD research, that is, a distraction other than disappearing into the wilderness to take photos! And it just so happened that Swing Patrol was offering a weekend workshop in Hobart in 2000. Well that was the beginning of a great adventure! Since then, another great adventure (thinking about the BIG questions) has taken me to Launceston. And given that I cannot live without swing dancing, when the opportunity arose to do some swing in Launceston, I jumped at the chance… “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -- I took the one less travelled by, And that has made all the difference.”
