Profile

Tim Oon

Tim teaches at numerous Swing Patrol venues, is a key part of our performance troupe, Scat Pack, and won the “Up and Comers” section at the 2002 Australian Jitterbug Championships.

Tim has always loved the performing arts whether it be singing or acting. The one thing he couldn’t get his head around was dancing (having discovered that in most civilisations, looking like a drowning lemming was not considered dancing). It was then a fateful rainy May night that took him to Moorabbin; where John & Jade initiated him into the cult that was swing. From such an in-auspicious beginning Tim has gone on to dance with Scat Pack ‘03 and become Australian Jitterbug Up & Coming Champion ’03 with Kate. He can also be found social dancing at many venues around Melbourne.

When asked why he dances, he replied: “It’s the people. No where else have I found group of people so genuine and passionate. They don’t just inspire me to dance; they inspire me to be a better person.”

If Tim’s not out on the dance floor he can be found: eating, singing, tending his bonsai or when all else fails studying computer science at Uni.

Tim has a rare passion for teaching and sharing the dance that he loves so much. When he teaches ... it's not a job ... it’s personal!
