Trish Carruthers
After a few dance lessons in another style of dancing, Trish went to see the 2001 Best of the Best Competition. The first two contestants to take the floor were a swing couple. "At the end of the song I remember turning to Derek with my eyes bugging out of my head and yelled at the top of my lungs 'I want to learn THAT!'" Trish then went out searching Sydney looking for someone to teach her Swing.
Word had come out that the couple who had impressed her so much were coming to Sydney to teach a lift workshop. Of course, that couple turned out to be Swing Patrol's Scott and Fi. She signed up for the class as quickly as her pen could sign the cheque... For the her efforts she ended up being so sore that she couldn't walk for a week. It was a fantastic workshop!
Since then Trish has been cutting up any rug that has the sweet tune of the 40s playing in the background! Strangest place I have ever danced would have to be on a Sydney ferry on the way to the Zoo.
